Tobacco smoking causes many types of cancer, heart and lung diseases (National Cancer Institute, 2017). In fact, tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable deaths all over the world. According to WHO, there are 1100 million smokers worldwide, which constitutes one-third of global population aged 15 years and above. 73% (800 million) of these are in developing countries and 27% (300 million) in developed countries. Tobacco use is responsible for 3 million deaths globally every year, two-third of these occur in developed nations.
"Every year more than half make a serious quit attempt. But only a small portion of smokers who try to quit succeed.”
